Ear cover

Count left from where you tied of on rnd 34. Sk 10 sps and connect yarn and do the following.

Row 1-4: 11 SC, Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: SC2tog, 7 SC, SC2tog, Ch 1, turn.

Row 6: 9 SC, Ch 1, turn.

Row 7: SC2tog, 5 SC, SC2tog, Ch 1 turn.

Row 8: 7 SC, tie off and hide string.

Counting left on Row 34 of hat from last made ear cover: Sk 28 sps connect yarn.

Rep ear cover rows 1-8

Go back to the hat on row 34 where you tied off and connect yarn back onto hat to cont. with rnd 35.

Rnd 35: SC around to 1 sp of ear cover, *Sk 1 sp, working up cover: 6 SC, 2 SC in next sp (corner), 6 SC across top, 2 SC in next sp (corner), 6 SC down next side, Sk 1 sp, SC to 1 sps of next ear cover and rep from * around to end,  Sl to 1^st Sc made, Ch 1, turn.

Rnd 36: Rep Rnd 35 tie of and hide string.

Braids

Cut limelight yarn into yard strips and fold in half and place onto the ends of the ear cuffs. Take these strings and braid into wanted length.

Step 6: Finishing Up

Crown: Sunshine Yellow

Base: Ch 25 SL to 1^st Ch made to form ring. Ch 1, turn. (24 sts)

Rnd 1-2: 24 SC, SL to 1^st SC made, Ch 1, turn. (24 sts)

Rnd 3-4: * SC, HDC, 2 DC, HDC, SC, Rep from * around, SL to 1^st SC made, Ch 1 turn. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *SC, HDC, 3 DC in next 2 sps, HDC, SC, rep from * around, SL to 1^st SC made, CH 1, turn. (40 sts)

Rnd 6: * 4 SC, HDC, DC, CH 2, DC, HDC, 2 SC, rep from * around. SL to 1^st SC made, Tie off hide string. (40 sts plus 4 sets of CH 2 sps)

To Assemble Face:

1^st: Sew nose holes to nose as shown.

2^nd: Stuff nose with poly-fill

3^rd: Sew nose down along round rnd 9 leaving bottom lip loose.

4^th: Sew pupils to eye whites.

5^th: Sew eyes down to hat on the sides of the nose.

6^th: black centers of ear motifs and sew to one green ear motif. Do this twice. These are the font of the ears.

7^th: Take front of ear motifs and 1 back motif and sew around 3 sides of and stuff with poly-fill. Do this twice.

8^th: Sew the ears to the hat in shown manner.

9^th: Sew crown to hat.
