Difficulty: Easy
Materials:
Craft Paint
Wood Slat- the older the wood the more rustic the look
Star Stencil
Foam Brush
Sand Paper
Directions:
Once you find a piece of wood you like- lightly sand the top of the wood before painting using a medium grit sandpaper to remove dirt or blemishes.
Next, use a ruler and pencil to draw a vertical line for the blue portion of the flag and horizontal lines for your stripes- my stripes were about an inch apart and I found the ruler very useful to determine if the stripes were even. This is probably the hardest part of the craft- drawing straight, even lines but don't worry about messing up because the pencil hides well. Once the lines are drawn you can start painting your stripes- I lightly brushed paint on to give it a more rustic look. Don't worry about messing it up though because you can always go over it with sandpaper if you put too much paint on.
Next, Add the star by using a stencil and white paint. If you don't have a stencil brush- a foam brush works just as well just make sure to dab paint off on the plate before painting to give it a more even stenciled look.
Let dry and add to your favorite decor!
