
Bunny Brooch Pattern
Crochet a Bunny Brooch with our free pattern! Celebrate Easter and May Day with this simple bunny applique. You’ll enjoy wearing and sharing this bunny pin and it’s so versatile. Use the applique as a lapel pin, brooch, scarf accent, on a hat or Easter beanie, attached to a headband, sweater or other article of clothing. *For a tighter, or more stiff applique, change to a US hook size G or H. The size I hook will give you a pliable bunny face with soft floppy ears.

Materials:
Small amount of worsted yarn (I used Caron Simply Soft & Red Heart Shimmer)
US Hook size I/5.50mm
Yarn/tapestry needle
Brooch pin or safety pin
Gauge: not needed
Key:
CC = change color
CH = chain
SC = single crochet
HDC = half double crochet
DC = double crochet
JOIN = sl st to first stitch of round
MR = Magic Ring (tutorial here)
RND = Round
SL ST = slip stitch
Notes:
Start your first stitch of each round in the same space as your chain.
Join your round to the first HDC, not your chain.
Chains do not count as stitches in this pattern.
Instructions:
With Pink…
Rnd 1: Magic Ring, sc 6, join. (6)
CC = Grey (or alternate color)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each stitch around, join. (12)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each stitch around, join. (24)
Rnd 4: Ch 10, sl st to 2nd chain from hook, sc 2, hdc 2, dc 2, hdc 2. Skip 1 stitch, sl st in next 2 stitches. Ch 10, sl st to 2nd chain from hook, sc 2, hdc 2, dc 2, hdc 2. Skip 1 stitch, sl st to next stitch.
Break yarn, weave into back side, leave 6 – 8” tail to attach to pin.
Add a pin to back of applique to create a brooch, scarf pin or other lapel accessory. You could also add this to a headband, clothing or other projects as an applique.
Optional
Eyes: Add tiny buttons or a simple embroidery knot with black yarn or embroidery floss to create eyes.
Whiskers: On each side of pink nose (Rnd 1) Add simple back stitches or embroidery stiches with black yarn or embroidery floss to create whiskers.
