Candy Cauldron

Enjoy your favorite treat from a knitted candy cauldron, just in time for Halloween! This nifty little container can be created by the advanced beginner using our free knitting pattern in just a jiff.

Or knit a candy cauldron in other colors to hold treats for any holiday or occasion.

Skill level: Advanced beginner

Materials: 125 yards of worsted weight yarn (the sample was knit using Lion Brand Jiffy in black
16 in size 9 circular needle
Yarn needle
Bottom or a gallon bleach jug, washed out and cut 5 inches tall.

Gauge: 3 stitches to the inch


Top edge
Cast on 2 st
Row 1: Inc, K1.
Row 2 and ALL EVEN rows: K in each stitch across.
Row 3: Inc, K 2.
Row 5: Inc, K 3.
Row 7: K2tog, K3.
Row 9: K2tig, K 2.
Row 11: K2tog, K1.
Row 12: K 2.
Repeat rows 1 – 12 nine more time for a total of 10 triangles. Cast off one st.

Turn the triangles to straight side and pick up 57 stitch, You will now have a total of 58 stitches.
Round 1: Place a marker and join in the around being careful not to twist, K in each stitch around, slipping the marker as you come to it.
Repeat round 1 until piece measures 6 ½ inches from edge.
Round 1: decrease 6 stitches evenly around.(52)
Round 2 and ALL EVEN rounds:  K in each stitch around.
Round 3: Decrease 10 stitches evenly around.(42)
Round 5:* K 5, K2tog, repeat from * around.(36)
Round 7: * K 4, K2tog, repeat from * around. (30)
Round 9: * K 3, K2tog, repeat from * around. (24)
Round 11: *K 2, K2tog, repeat from * around. (18)
Round 13: * K 1, K2tog, repeat from * around. (12)
Round 14:  K2tog, repeat around. (6)
Cut yarn 12 leaving 12 inches, weave through remaining loops and secure.

Make 4 sts I cord 10 inches long.
To make an I Cord, cast on 4 sts, K each stitch,* do not turn, slide the just knitted stitches to the left tip of the needle, bring the yarn across the back and knit the 4 sts, repeat from *.
Finishing it all up
Sew handle to caldron. Cut the bleach bottle to fit inside of the caldron and use as a liner.
