These cute little magnets, also known as “fridgies”, are a popular gift to make for any occasion. They dress up any fridge or magnet board and can be made in minutes!

Difficulty: Easy

Worsted weight yarn, hook size 4mm


Felt to attach to back of flower

Permanent Glue


Round 1: 4ch slst into a ring, 2ch 9htr/hdc into ring, slst join = 10

Round 2: 1ch (1dc/sc into next st, 4ch, miss 1) 5times slst join into first st. You should have 5 loops
Round 3: Into each of the ch loops work (1dc/sc, 1htr/hdc, 3tr/dc, 1htr/hdc, 1dc/sc) do not join = 5 petals

Round 4: working in front of previous row into missed sp work (3tr/dc, 1htr/hdc, 1dc/sc) around slst join in first tr/dc of round, finish off leaving a 30cm/12in length of yarn = 5petals
Add a button or embellishment to the middle using glue. Glue magnet to the back of the flower by cutting a small circle from felt and gluing it to the back and gluing that to the magnet. Now you have some cute little fridgies to keep for yourself or give away!

Leaf Instructions:
Using green yarn Begin with a sl knot of approx 4″ tail.
r1 – ch9.
r2 – sc1 on the 2nd st from hook, hdc1, dc3, hdc1, sc1, slst on the last ch st, turn and work on the other loop of the base ch. ch1, slst on 1st st, sc1, hdc1, dc3, hdc1, sc1, slst. fo & leave approx 4″ tail.
Use tapestry needle to bring the yarn end to the starting side of the leaf through midrib.
