Crochet Flower Necklace

Wondering what to do with all those cute flowers you crocheted or the leftover bottle caps in your craft collection. Well, even if you haven't started a flower crochet pattern- get inspired with this cute homemade gift idea just in time for Mother's Day.  You can personalize it even more with a picture in the middle or favorite quote too- the ideas are limitless!

 

Difficulty: Easy

Materials:  Size H crochet hook, a few yards of any worsted weight yarn, bottle caps and scraps of paper, glue gun.

Flower Pattern:

Chain 3, join with sl st to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first stitch), hdc into loop, ch 1.  {dc2tog, ch 1 into center ring}.  Repeat 4 more times around.  Join with sl st. in first ch-1 space. (6 dc2tog-clusters and 6 ch-1 spaces made)
Round 2:  Ch 1 (counts as first sc) + ch 3.  {sc in next ch-1 space.  Ch 3}.  Repeat around.  Join with sl st into first ch-3 space.  (6, ch-3 spaces made)
Round 3: ch 1, counts as first sc.  Work: 2 dc, 3tr, 2 dc, sc into same ch-3 space.  {sc, 2dc, 3tr, 2 dc, sc into next ch-3 space}.  Repeat around 4 more times to form 6 petals.  Join with sl st into first chain.
Fasten off, leaving a 12 inch tail.  Weave in ends

To make your circle of paper or picture- I found a circle punch worked best for that part of the project. Once it is cut, glue to the center of the bottle cap using Mod Podge and let dry.  Once flower is finished, add it to a metal clasp. you can find these in the jewelry section of any craft store they usually have a claw like clasp so they hold the flower in place really well.

Glue bottle cap to the center of the flower using a hot glue gun and enjoy!
