Knit a fall themed kitchen towel with our new free pattern, designed by Melanie! This knit kitchen towel is a great project for the advanced beginner or seasoned knitter looking for something simple to make. Use fall themed colors or choose other yarn color combinations to create themed towels for any holiday or occasion.

These pretty patterned knit towels would make a great stocking stuffer or homemade gift too!

Skill level: Advanced beginner

Materials: 120 yards of main color, small amounts of different coordinating colors
Size 9 needles
Stitch markers
Yarn needle
1 inch Button

Gauge: 4 sts to the inch.


Towel bottom
With MC cast on 42.
Row 1-7: K in each stitch across.
Row 8:, K 2, place a marker, K 1, *(k2tog) 3times; (Yo,K1) 5 times; Yo, (K2tog)3 times;, repeat from * across to last 5 sts, place marker, K2.
Row 9 and 10: K in each st across, slipping markers as you come to it.
Row 11:  K2, sl marker, P to next marker, Sl marker, K 2.
Repeat rows 8 – 11 changes colors as you like at the end of row 11 until piece measures 12 inches.


Row 1-4: With main color K in st across.
Row 5:*K2tog, repeat from * across. (21)
Row 6: repeat row 1.
Row 7: * K1, K2tog, repeat from * to last st, K 2(14)
Rows 8 and 9: Repeat row 1.
Row 10: K2tog, K 2, K2tog, K2, K2tog,K 2, K2tog.(10)
Rows 11- 30: K in each st across.
Row 31: K 4, K2tog, Yo, K 4.
Rows 32-35: K in each st across.
Cast off

Finishing it all up:

Weave in all ends, and sew button into place.

She has taught classes through various yarn stores, Community Education Programs, fiber fairs; as well as in 4-H programs around Idaho. She has been designing her own unique projects and patterns for numerous year and she has spent several years as a pattern tester for many yarn and design companies.
