Step 2: Instructions

Directions:

First, cut and lightly sand wood block- mine measured 6"x6" and is about 2" thick (I bought my craft block already cut for this craft at a local craft store but most of the time when you have wood scraps on hand they work great for this type of craft).

For the Candy Corn wood cut out you can cut out this shape using a scroll saw or buy one already cut at a craft store- just make sure to lightly sand before painting. Next, prepare for painting by drawing lines first with a pencil- then paint each section with the corresponding color. Set aside to dry.

Paint Edges of your block- I used black because it went well with both blocks but feel free to use whatever goes with your paper and ribbon.

Step 3: Finishing Up

Measure and cut paper by turning over and tracing block- making sure to cut paper slightly shorter than the length of the block with a paper cutter or scissors. Once paper is cut, glue it to your block using Mod Podge and a foam brush.

Make sure not to put to much glue because it will bubble if you do, a little goes a long way with that type of glue. Make sure to smooth out with a squeegee or card after gluing to prevent any air bubbles.

Hot glue the Candy corn to the front and tie your block with ribbon and you are done!

Here is another block idea I made with vinyl letters to display next to the candy corn - feel free to click on the image below and print for a free printable to make your blocks with.
