Holly Berry Applique - Free Crochet Pattern

This free pattern for a crocheted applique is easy and fun!  It is fairly simple to crochet and the pattern doesn't take very long at all.  You can add it to just about any holiday project, pillows, or my favorite: kids headbands.  This pretty little holly berry crocheted piece could be used as a gift package accent, Christmas tree ornament, plate or holiday table display accent piece, Christmas scarf/shirt/mittens/hat, etc.  Just about anything you can come up with and applique onto, this pretty pattern will doll up!

Difficulty: Easy

Material: Size 10 thread: red and green, and 1.3 mm (U.S. size 10 or 8) crochet hook.

 

SL = Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

TR = Treble Crochet

FLO = Front Loop only

 

Leaf- Green (make 2)

Base: Ch 16

Rnd 1: (SC, HDC, DC, 3 TR in next sp, DC, HDC, SC) 2 times, 4 SC in next sp, (SC, HDC, DC, 3 TR in next sp, DC, HDC, SC) 2 times, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 2: FLO; 3SC, HDC,

In next sp (DC, Ch 2, DC), HDC,  2 SC, SC2tog, 2 SC, HDC, In next sp ( DC, CH 2, DC), HDC, 4 SC, 2 SC in next sp, 5 SC, HDC, In next sp (DC, Ch 2, DC), HDC, 2 SC, SC2tog, 2 SC, HDC, In next sp (DC, CH 2, DC), HDC, 3 SC, tie off.

 

Berries – Red (make 3)

Base: Ch 3

Rnd 1: 10 SC in 1^st CH made, SL to 1^st SC made, Ch 1, turn.

Rnd 2: FLO: 2 SC in each sp around, SL to 1^st SC made, tie off.

 

For Card stock/Wood/Scrapbooks/solid objects – small amount of hot glue or craft glue

For fabric or crochet/knit projects – needle and thread
