Wreaths make a lovely addition to your holiday decorations and this one is especially nice! Use our free knitting pattern to make a sweet "Home for the Holidays" wreath to welcome friends and family into your home this winter for Christmas or any special occasion. Knit one to share with a friend as a gift or with a neighbor to welcome them to the neighborhood.

Change the colors and add flowers or other embellishments to celebrate special events or holidays throughout the year.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials:  Worsted weight yarn 100 yards of white, and small amounts of red, green, and gold.
12 inch white foam wreath form
Size 7 needle
Size G crochet hook
Yarn needle
    
Gauge: 4 sts to the inch

Stitches Used:
K = knit
P = Purl
K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together
SC = single crochet

Wreath body:
Using white cast on 20.
Row 1 -184 : K in each stitch across.
Bind off.
Putting it together part 1
Sew the cast on end to the bind off end. Be careful not to twist. Fit the loop over the wreath form and sew the sides together closing around the form. Weave in all ends.

Bow:
With red cast on 1 sts,
Row 1: P1
Row 2: Inc.
Row 3: P 2.
Row 4: K 1, inc.
Row 5: P 3.
Row 6: K 2, inc.
Row 7: P 4.
Row 8: K 3, inc.
Row 9: P 5.
Row 10: K 4, inc.
Row 11: P 6.
Row 12: K 5, inc.
Row 13: P 7.
Row 14: K 6, inc.
Row 15: P 8.
Row 16: K 8
Repeat rows 15 and 16 until ribbon measures  55 inches.

Ribbon End:
Row 1: K2tog, K across.
Row 2: P across.
Repeat these two rows until you have one sts left. Bind off.
With crochet hook and gold yarn and starting at the tip of one end. SC down the side of the ribbon evenly across, and up the other side. Bind off and weave in ends.
Putting it all together part 2
Make a bow and sew to the top of the wreath using pictures for placement.

Holly Leaves (make 5):
With green, cast on 20 sts.
Row 1: P 9, inc knit wise in the next 2 sts, P9.
Row 2: K in each stitch across.
Row 3: P in each stitch across.
Row 4: K1, (Yo, k2tog) repeat 10 times, K1.
Row 5: P in each stitch across.
Row 6: K in each stitch across.
Row 7: P9. K2tog 2 times, P 9.
Cast off

Fold the piece in half longwise and sew together. Fold the strip in half and sew ends together making a leave shape.

Berries:
With red, cast on 2 stitches.
Row 1: Inc in each stitch. (4)
Row 2 and all even rows: P in each stitch across.
Row 3: Inc in each stitch across. (8)
Row 5: K2tog across. (4)
Row 7: K2tog across. (2)
Cast off

Finishing up:

Place the holly leaves on the wreath as pictured or as desired and sew to secure. Shape berries and sew to center of holly leaves.  Weave in all ends.
