This Headband is one of my favorites. Keep your baby ears warm with this beautiful and fun headband. My personal touch I have not shared yet with you is revealed in this headband. Interchangeable flowers make this headband fun! It can be matched with just about anything. This headband measures 11 ½ inches long and is mean for a newborn. For a bigger size band, increase the length.

Materials: SPA Yarn: Misty Taupe, Cable Needle, Knitting Needle Size 4 mm, #1803 Shellz Shell buttons or Buttons of your choice. A variety of Colors of your choice are needed for the flowers and Leaves.

 

K = Knit

P = Purl

YO = Yarn Over

K2tog = Knit 2 together

 

Cast on 15 sts.

Row 1: K15

Row 2: P5, K5, P5.

Row 3 (button row): K1, Put 2 sts onto cable and hold in front of work, K2 from lest needle, K2 from cable needle, YO, K2 tog, K1 K2tog, YO, put 2 sts onto cable and hold in front of work, K2 from left needle, K2 from cable needle, K1.

Row 4: P5, K5, P5.

Row 5: K15.

Row 6: P5, K5, P5.

 

Row 7: K1, Put 2 sts onto cable and hold in front of work, K2 from left needle, K2 from cable needle, K5, put 2 sts onto cable and hold in front of work, K2 from left needle, K2 from cable needle, K1.

Row 8: P5, K5, P5.

Row 9: K15.

Row 10: P5, K5, P5.

 

Rep rows 7 – 10 until length measures 11 ½” long.

Sew two buttons on right side of work opposite end of button holes.

Sew an extra button on right side of work, opposite of the ones just placed. This will be left of the button holes themselves. This button will be used to hold on the different flower appliqués.

 

Crochet Flower Appliqués: Using a variety of colors.

 

SL = Slip

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

TR = Treble Crochet

 

Flower

CH8, SL to 1st CH made.

Rnd 1: 10 SC in CH 8 loop, SL to 1st SC made, Ch 1, turn.

Rnd 2: * CH 3, SK next sp, 1 SC, Rep around from* SL to 1st CH made, Ch 1 turn.

Rnd 3: In each CH 3 sp (1 SC, 1 HDC, 2 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC) SL to 1st SC made, Tie off, Hide string. Slip over button!

 

Leaves

CH 8, Sl to 1st CH made.

Rnd 1: In CH 8 Loop: 2 SC, 2 HDC, 2 DC, 1 TR, CH 3, 1 TR, 2 DC, 2 HDC, 2 SC, Sl to 1st SC made, Tie off and hide sting. Make Two Leaves and put on buttons!
