Step 1: Getting Started
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced
Materials: Size ten thread of any choice of color and a crochet hook size 2 mm.
CH = Chain
SL = Sip Stitch
Sk = Skip
SC = Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Shell = 5 DC in next sp
Ribbed = *DCBP, DCFP rep from * across
Step 2: Pattern Instructions
Directions:
Back Motif:
Base: Ch 97
Row 1: 96 SC, Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: *SK 2 sps, Shell, SK 2 sps, DC, Rep from * across, Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: * SK 2 sps, Shell in middle sp of shell from prev row, Sk 2 sps, DC in DC, Rep from * across, end with Dc in DC, Ch 3, turn
Row 4-7: rep row 3, except row 7 end with Ch 1, turn.
Row 8: SC, *CH 2, Sk 2 sps, SC, Rep from * across, CH 1, turn.
Row 9: SC across, Ch 3, turn.
Strap:
Row 10-38: (Sk 2 sps, Shell, Sk 2 sps, DC) 3 times, Ch 3, turn.
Row 39: Rep 10 except end with Ch 1, turn.
Row 40: SC, *CH 2, Sk 2 sps, SC, Rep from * across, tie off.
Attach to un-worked corner of row 9, CH 3 then rep rows 10-40 tie off.
Step 3: Torso Band
Band for torso:
Base: Ch 203
Row 1: SK 3 sps, DC across, Ch 3, turn.
Row 2-4: Dc3tog, *DCBP, DCFP, (Ribbed), rep from * across to last 4 sps, DC3tog, DC, Ch 3, turn. Tie off.
Place the band around the torso aligning with the straps and back of the back motif. Then sew the straps down to the band, then sew the back and the band together. The band under the arm pit should measure 5” wide.
SC evenly around Armpit hole, Sl to 1st SC made, tie off.
Step 4: Sleeves
Sleeves: Find center of shoulder and count 15 sts to the right and attach string.
Row 1: 2 SC, HDC, 10 DC, Sk 1 sp, Dc3tog, Sk 1 sp, 10 DC, HDC, 2 SC, tie off, go back to beginning and count 10 sps to the right and attach String in next sp.
Row 2: 2 SC, HDC, 8 DC, (Then working on Row 1) DC to end of row 1, 8 DC, HDC, 2 SC, tie off, go back to beginning and count 10 sps to the right and attach String in next sp.
Row 3: 2 SC, HDC, 8 DC, (Then working on row 2) * 3 DC, Dc2tog, Rep from * across to end of row 2, 8 DC, HDC, 2 SC, tie off, go back to beginning and attach to corner where band and strap meet. As shown.
Step 5: Finishing Up
Rnd 4: 2 SC, HDC, *3 DC, Dc2tog, Rep from * around strap to 3 sts before the corner on other side, HDC, SC, SC3tog, (working along band now), SK 1 sp, *5 SC, SC2tog, Rep from * across to last 5 sts, Sk 1 sp, Sc3tog, Sl to 1st SC made, Ch 3, turn.
Rnd 5: DC across the band to 1 sts before corner, DC3tog, DC, Sk 2 sps, * Shell, Sk 4 sps, Rep from * around to beginning, tie off and hide string.
Rep Row 1- Rnd 5 on other side of bolero.
Connect Thread to end of last row of band at the bottom of bolero working up toward neck:
Row 1: SC around to other corner of bolero, CH 3, turn.
Row 2: *Sk 4 sps, Shell, Rep from * around neck to other corner. Tie off and hide string.
