You may have seen the trend of Santa's Belly craft projects around, including our Santa's Belly Treat Cups. Well I got to thinking that snowmen were getting the short end of the stick, so I created these Snowman Belly Ornaments complete with glittery mittens!

You will need

  • Styrofoam ball
  • Ornament hanger from a broken or missing ornament
  • Instant grab glue
  • Sno-Tex snow texture paint
  • Paintbrush
  • 3 green buttons
  • 2 shades of blue felt
  • Blue glitter
  • White craft glue
  • Styrofoam cup to use as a stand

What you do

Add some instant grab glue (I use Beacon's 3-in-1) to the ornament hanger (save these from ball ornaments that accidentally break) and insert into the Styrofoam ball.

Poke a hole (about the size of a dime) in the bottom of the Styrofoam cup and stand the cup upside down. This will be your stand.

Use a paintbrush to cover the ball in Sno-Tex.

1

When ball is covered, gently press the 3 buttons into the wet Sno-Tex.Gently rest the wet ornament on the Styrofoam cup to dry.

2

Meanwhile, make the mittens. Cut two mitten shapes and two cuffs from felt. Glue the cuffs to the mittens.

3

Pipe some white glue around the border of each mitten and all over the cuff. Use a thin paintbrush, toothpick or pencil point to spread the glue so that you have even lines.

4

Sprinkle with glitter and wait several minutes before lifting and tapping off excess.

5

When Sno-Tex is dry (this will take a couple of hours), using instant grab glue to attach the mittens to the ornament.
