Step 1: Getting Started

 

Spring is the perfect time to deep clean, replace worn out items and make new and handy tools for the kitchen and all around the house. You'll enjoy knitting this Spring Kitchen Set of towel, hotpad and washcloth. As a beginner's knitting pattern, this set comes together nice and easy.

The pretty knit towel, hotpad and washcloth can also be used in the bathroom, washroom, nursery or garden bench - they are just so versatile! By using the cotton yarn, you create a fabric that is both soft and absorbent with excellent cleaning power.

Knit and crochet kitchen sets also make wonderful homemade gifts for bridal showers and birthdays too!

Skill level: beginner

Materials: 300 yards of 100% cotton yarn.  The sample was knit using 2 balls of Lily Sugar and Cream lavender and 1 ball of twilight ombre.

24 inch size 10 needle

Size H crochet hook

Yarn needle

Large button

Stitches used:

K = knit

P = purl

K2tog= knit 2 together

P2tog= Purl 2 together

YO = yarn over

SC = single crochet

Step 2: Towel Pattern

 

Towel:

Cast on using lavender 47.

Row 1: K 3, *p 1,K4; repeat to last 6 sts, K 3.

Row 2: *P2, K3; repeat to last 5 sts, P2.

Repeat Row 1 and 2 until piece measures 13 inches, ending with row 2.

Top

Row 1: *K2tog, p2tog,P 1,repeat across to last 2 sts, K2tog. (28)

Row 2: P1, * K2tog, P1, repeat across. (19)

Row 3: * K2tog, K1, repeat across to last 2 sts, K2tog. (12)

Row 4: K across.

Row 5: P across.

Repeat rows 4 and 5 seven more times.

Row 20:  K 5, K2tog, Yo, K5.

Row 21: P in each sts and Yo across.

Row 22: K across.

Row 23: P2tog, P2tog, P 4, P2tog, P2tog. (8)

Row 24: K across.

Row 25: P2tog, across. (4) Cast off.

Weave in ends and sew button in place.

Step 3: Dishcloth and Hotpad Patterns

 

Dish cloth:

Using twilight ombre

Cast on 27

Row 1: K 3, *p 1,K4; repeat to last 6 sts, K 3.

Row 2: *P2, K3; repeat to last 5 sts, P2.

Repeat Row 1 and 2 until piece measures 8 inches, ending with row 2.

Cast off and weave in ends.

 

Hot Pad:

Using lavender

Repeat for dish cloth making 2 pieces

Finishing it all up

Place both squares with front facing out and using twilight ombre and size H crochet hook, *25  sc evenly across to the corner, 3Sc in the corner, repeat from * around. Cut yarn and weave in ends.
