
Tatted Snowflake - Free Tatting Pattern
Tatting, a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace constructed by a series of knots and loops, is used here to craft this beautiful tatted snowflake. A tatted ornament adds a nice Victorian themed touch to your Christmas Tree and holiday decor. It can also be created as a thoughtful homemade gift. Happy Tatting!
Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate# = Number of Double Stitches
R = Ring
RND = Round
- = Small Picot
-- = Medium Pico
--- = Large Picot
CL = Close Ring
+ = Attach
RW = Reverse Work
Instructions:
Rnd 1: Clover 1
R1: 6 – 6 CL.
R2: 10 - - - 10 CL.
R3: 6 – 6 CL. RW.
CH: 14 - - 2 (R: 8 - - - 8 CL) 2 – 14. RW
Clover 2:
R1: 6 – 6 CL.
R2: 10 + 10 CL. (Connect to Prev Clover in R2).
R3: 6 – 6 CL. RW.
CH: 14 - - 2 (R: 8 - - - 8 CL) 2 – 14. RW
Clover 3-5: Rep Clover 2 and CH
Finish by connecting the last ch to the beginning. Tie off and hide string.
Rnd 2: Connect to bottom of clover between 2 chains.
Chain: (30 – 2 - - 2 - - - 2 - - 2 – 30 +) 5 times around. (Connect to bottom of clover between 2 chains.)
Finish by connecting the last chain to the beginning.
Use fabric stiffener to stiffen your snowflake and shape it by pinning it down to wanted shape and let dry or dry with blow-dryer.
