Tis the season to be jolly...and you'll be twice as jolly knitting and wearing this fun and festive beanie-style hat with a little twist at the top! This knitting pattern is perfect for beginners to practice with or even skilled knitters who want something simple and easy to create.

Use Christmas themed colors to create a holiday hat. Or, change up the colors to create a favorite team hat or bright beanie for any occasion!

Skill level: Beginner

Materials: 100 yards of worsted weight yarn in red
Small amount of  white, green and gold
16 inch size 7 circular needle    
Stitch markers
Yarn needle

Gauge: Not given

Stitches used:
    K = knit
    P = purl
    K2tog = k2 sts together
    Yo = yarn over


Hat:
With red Cast on 80 sts.
Round 1: Being careful not to twist, join in the round and place a marker to designate the beginning of the around, P in each sts around.
Round 2 – 46: K in each stitch around, slipping maker as you come to it. At the end of round 46 your hat should be about 7 inches long from cast on.
Round 47: (K8, K2tog,) repeat around. (72)
Round 48: K in each stitch around.
Round 49: (K7,K2tog,) repeat around . (64)
Round 50: K in each stitch around.
Round 51: (Yo, K2tog,) repeat around.
Round 52 -61: K in each stitch around, slipping the marker as you go.
Round 62: P in each stitch around.
Cast Off.

Braid:
Make a braid 40 inches long with all 4 colors and weave in round 51 and tie in a knot to close the hat.
Weave in ends and enjoy!
