Step 1: Materials List

Its time for another fun upcycle project! Here is a cute headband idea that can be made in minutes using materials you may already have on hand. I had a great Fall colored shirt for this project, but you can use any color anytime of year. This vintage lace headband looks adorable on all heads, big and small! And it's a simple way to add a touch of color accent to your hair and accessorize your wardrobe.

Difficulty: Easy

T- Shirt
Sewing machine

Step 2: Getting Started

This is a shirt I found at a Thrift store for Fall last year but it never seemed to fit right so I thought I would put it to good use and make a few things out of it to accessorize this year. I used most of this shirt for a Ruffled Scarf and Knotted Headband. For this tutorial I am going to show you how to make a Vintage looking head band from the crochet top of a T-Shirt- you can also use this same idea for any scraps of lace or other material you may have on hand.

First lay your shirt out and find the best spot to cut-
I loved the crochet top on mine so I cut mine just under the armpit and along the side of the seam in front so I had one less seam to sew.

Step 3: Finishing Up

Once you have finished cutting the length and width you want- You will want to gather some elastic or ribbon to attach it to. I used the elastic from another headband that was not being used.

After you have measured your elastic and headband to the length you want- cut and sew elastic to the ends of your material using a zig zag stitch.

Now you can add a flower or button to the top and there you have it, another great way to upcycle a T-shirt or materials you already have.
