Materials: Coats & Clark's Red Heart Baby Wool, 3 ply: 3 skeins (2 oz. "TangleProof" Pull-Out Skeins) Baby Blue or color of choice. Crochet Hook No. 3. - 3 small pearl buttons. (Optional)Embroidery Floss; 1 skein each of Pink, Yellow and Green.
Gauge: 6 sc make 1 inch; 7 rows make 1 inch.
Instructions:
Yoke-Back . . . Starting at lower edge, make a chain 13 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 11 1/2 inches (70 sc). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
To Shape Armholes: 1st row: Dec 1 sc-to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc - sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until 8 decrease rows have been completed. Ch 1, turn. Next row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until piece measures 3 1/2 inches in all.
To Shape Shoulders: 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows; Sl st across first 7 sc, sc in each sc across to within last 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 3rd row.
Front (Make 2) . . . Starting at lower edge. make a chain 7 inches long. 1st row: Work as for first row of Back until row measures 5 3/4 inches (35 sc). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
To Shape Armhole: 1st row: Dec 1 sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Next row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last 2 rows alternately 3 times more. Now work without decreasing until piece measures 2 3/4 inches in all, ending at front edge.
To Shape Neck: 1st row: Sl st across first 6 sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across to within last sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Dec 1 sc, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last 2 rows 2 times more, ending at sleeve edge.
To Shape Shoulder: 1st row: Sl st over first 7 sts, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across to within last 7 sc. 3rd row: Sl st over remaining sc. Break off. Sew shoulder seams and underarm seams.
Body: 1st row: Attach yarn to first st at front edge of Yoke and working across lower edge, ch 6, sc in 4th ch from hook (picot made), * dc in next st, ch 3, sc in last dc made (another picot made). Repeat from * across. Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: Make a picot, skip first dc, * dc in next dc, picot. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 6, turn. Repeat 2nd row until Body measures 11 inches. Break off.
Sleeve: (Make 2) . . . Starting at wrist edge, ch 38. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 6 1/2 inches.
To Shape Top: 1st row: Dec 2 sc at beginning and end of row. Now dec 1 sc at both ends of every other row until piece measures 7 1/2 inches in all. Break off. Sew sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves.
Collar: 1st row: Attach yarn at neck edge and sc closely across, drawing it in slightly. Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: Work as for first row of Body. 3rd, 4th and 5th rows: Work as for 2nd row of Body. Break off at end of 5th row.
Buttonhole band: Attach yarn to neck edge of Right Front. 1st row: Sc closely across Front. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across, making 3 buttonholes evenly spaced on Yoke
Button band: Attach yarn to lower edge of Left Front and work as for Buttonhole Band, omitting buttonholes. Sew buttons in place.
