Crochet Patterns - Baby Bonnet
Materials: MC (White) - % ounce, (20 grams, 40 yards);
CC (Yellow) - 1 ounce, (30 grams, 60 yards); Crochet hooks, sizes I (5.50 mm), and J (6.00 mm) or sizes needed for
gauge; Yarn needle; Ribbon, approximately: 1 yard.
Gauge: With larger size hook, in pattern, 11 sts and 8 rows = 4"
Crown: With MC and larger size hook, ch 42 loosely.
Row 1 (Right side): 2 Dc in fourth ch from hook, skip next ch, sc in next ch, skip next
2 chs, 4 dc in next ch, skip next 2 chs, sc in next ch; repeat from across changing to CC
in last sc: 34 sts.
Note: Mark last row as right side.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), turn; 2 dc in
first sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before next dc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from across to
last 2 dc, skip last 2 dc, sc in top of beginning ch changing to MC.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before
next dc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from across to last 3 dc, skip next 2 dc, sc in last dc
changing to CC.
Rows 4-7: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 twice.
Row 8: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before
next dc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from across to last 3 dc, skip next 2 dc, sc in last dc;
finish off.
Back:
Row 1: With right side facing and larger size hook, skip first 10 sts and join MC with
slip st in next sc; ch 3, 2 dc in same st, skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before next dc, (4 dc
in next dc, skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before next dc) twice changing to CC in last sc,
leave remaining 10 sts unworked: 14 sts.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, (skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before
next dc, 4 dc in next sc) twice, skip next 2 dc, sc in last dc changing to MC.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, (skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before
next dc, 4 dc in next sc) twice, skip next 2 dc, sc in last dc changing to CC.
Rows 4-6: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 once, then repeat Row 2 once more.
Row 7: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, (skip next 2 dc, sc in sp before
next dc, 4 dc in next sc) twice, skip next 2 dc, sc in last dc; finish off.
Sew sides of Back to skipped sts of Crown.
Face Band:
Row 1: With right side facing, smaller size hook and working in free loops of beginning
ch on Crown, join CC with slip st in first ch; ch 1, sc in same st and in each ch across:
40 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in first sc, ch 3, slip st in last sc made, (sc in next 3 sc, ch
3, slip st in last sc made) across; do not finish off.
Neck Band:
Row 1: Ch 1, do not turn; sc in end of first 3 rows on Face Band; work
36 sc evenly spaced across to Face Band, sc in end of last 3 rows: 42 sc.
Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 2 sc, (decrease, sc in next 3 sc) across; finish off.
Add ribbon ties.
