Materials: You will need 1/2 yard of gingham fabric and the pattern below. Cut the pieces from the pattern, placing the ears on the bias. Stitch a dart for the hind legs on the front section only. With right sides together, seam the front and back, leaving a few inches open at the bottom. Clip the seams, turn, and stuff firmly. Hand-tack the opening closed. Seam around the ears, leaving the top edge open. Trim, turn, and press. Turn under 1/4 inch at the top and hand-tack to each side of the head. Seam the tail, clip, turn, and stuff. Tack the tail to the lower center back. Cut felt features and sew in place. Tack on collar.

Assemble the calico cat the same way as you did the gingham dog, catching the ears as you sew the front to the back. Cut felt features and sew or glue them in place. Embroider whiskers and tie on a perky ribbon bow.

Back
