Country Craft Projects - Yarn
Wreath

Materials: Two 8-ounce skeins Lily Mills "Sheeps Coat’ Thick and
Thin Handweaving Yarn (or similar amount of yarn in twisted skeins): 3 yards
matching or contrasting yarn; 14-inch-diameter corrugated cardboard circle;
Clear plastic fishing line Fabric ribbon.
Directions
1. Cut a 12-inch-diameter circle from the center of the
cardboard circle, leaving a 2-inch-wide base for the wreath.
2. Untwist, but don’t unwind, the yarn
skeins and knot them together as shown here:

3. Center the knot at the top of the cardboard
wreath and wrap fishing line around both yarn and cardboard. Gently twist the
skeins on each side of the wreath to get a plump, twirled effect; tie the ends
of the yarn to the cardboard with a piece of fishing line wrapped completely
around the wreath.
4. Cut a piece of fishing line and wrap it
completely around the entire wreath so the yarn is securely fastened to the
cardboard.
If your yarn is less bulky, use more than 2
skeins and join the skeins end to end.
5. Twist together several long pieces of
matching or contrasting yarn and wrap them around the wreath to cover the
fishing line. Tie the ends of the yarn pieces at the back of the wreath.
6. Add a fabric bow at the base of the wreath
to hide ends of the skeins. Sew or pin the bow to the wreath through the back of
the knot, making sure it’s secure.
