Crochet Patterns - Jack O' Lantern
Materials:
3 skeins each 70 yds. rug yarn in tangerine; 2 skeins each 70 yds. rug yarn in avocado green;
Polyester fiberfill; Small scrap of black felt; No. 13 yarn
needle; No. H or I crochet hook (No. G for green).

Pumpkin: Use tangerine yarn.
Row 1: Ch 51 sts, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 7 sts, sc in each of the next 2 sts, make hdc in next 30 sts, 1 sc in next 2
sts, sl st in
last 8 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Make 1 sc in base of ch 1, make 2 sc in each st
around, sl st in ch 1, ch 1.
Row 3: Make 1 sc in base of ch 1, * 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in
next st *. Repeat between * around
row. Sl st in ch 1,ch 1.
Row 4: Make 1 sc in base of ch 1, * 1 sc in next 2 sts, 2
sc in next st*. Repeat between * around row,
sl st in ch 1, ch 1.
Row 6: Make 1 sc in base of ch 1, *1 sc in next 4 sts, 2
sc in next st *. Repeat between * around
row, sl stitch to ch 1, ch 1.
Row 7: Make 1 sc in base of ch 1, *1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc
in next st*. Repeat between * around
row, sl st to ch 1, fasten off, leave enough yarn to sew around bottom of
pumpkin. Sew bottom flat to center bottom, weave in ends.
Top Stem and Leaf:
Using avocado green yarn and G crochet hook ch 5, sl st to
form ring.
Row 1: Ch 1, make 7 sc in ring. (8 sc) do not sl st, but
continue working around in a circle. (Mark beginning of row.)
Rows 2-4: Continue around on 8 sc.
Row 5: Increase 4 sts evenly in row. (l2sc)
Rows 6-9: Make 1 sc around each row.
Row 10: Increase 3 sts evenly spaced in row.
Rows 11-14: Make 1 sc in each st around.
flow 15: Make 2 sc in each St around.
(30 sc)
Row 16: * 2 sc in 1 st, 1 sc in next *. Repeat between *
around row.
Row 17: * 2 sc in 1 st, 1 sc in next 2 sts*. Repeat between * around row.
Continue increasing (follow bottom of pumpkin, but do not sl
st or ch 1 at end of round). Work until there are about 80 sts around, or work
measures 3" down below stem.
Picot Edge:
* Ch 5, sl st in base of ch 5, make 1 sc in next 4 sts*.
Repeat between * around row. Sl st in
base of first ch 5, do not fasten off. Ch 21 sts (leaf). Make 3 sc in 2nd ch
from hook, make 3 sc in each ch across row. Note - Do
not miss a single st. Sl st in beginning ch, fasten off, leaving enough yarn to
sew the green top to top of pumpkin. Sew firmly, weave in ends. Curly leaf will
be on the left side of the front as pictured.
Face:
Cut black felt for eyes, nose and mouth.
