Crochet Patterns - Little Girl's Poncho

This stylish poncho fits a 7 or 8-year old girl. It takes
about 8 ounces knitting worsted and size I aluminum crochet hook.
Abbreviations: ch (chain) sl st (slip stitch)
sk (skip) lp (loop)
sc (single crochet) sp (space).

Gauge: (Sc, ch 1, sc,
ch 1) equals 1 inch.
Starting at neck edge, ch 80, join (taking care not to twist
ch), ch 1.
Rnd 1: Sc in same sp, * ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch, repeat
from * around, ch 1, join.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 1, sc in next
sc, repeat
from * around, ch 1, join.
Rnds 3, 4, 5: Repeat rnd 2.
Note: To Make a Knot St - * Make a lp on hook, draw it out
1/4 inch, thread over hook and draw through lp, insert hook between lp and
thread drawn through, thread over hook and draw through, thread over and draw
through both lps on hook for a sc, draw another lp on hook same
length, sc in lp, sk 1 st, sc in next sc, repeat from * for desired number of
knot sts.
Rnd 6: Work a knot st in every other sc around, sl st to first lp of first knot
st.
Rnds 7 through 11: Without joining, mark beginning of each rnd, work in knot
st, sl st to lp of next knot st in last rnd.
Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 1, sc on other side of same knot st,
* ch 3, sc to left of sc of next knot st, ch 1, sc on other side of same knot st,
repeat from * around, ch 3, join.
Next 3 Rnds: Repeat rnd 2.
Next Rnd: Work
a knot St in every other sc around.
Next 7 Rnds: Work a rnd of knot st.
Next Rnd: Repeat rnd 12.
Next 3 Rnds: Repeat rnd 2, fasten off.
Tie: Work a ch about 1 1/2 yards long, sl st in each st of ch.
Tassels: Make 2. Cut 13 strands 7 inches long, tie at center to end
of tie, fold
together, then tie again about 3/4 inch below.
Fringe: Cut lengths 7 inches long. Double 3 strands in half and knot
through every other st around lower edge.
