Lapel Trim:
R1…With wrong side facing you (which will be the right side
of the lapel) and with main color, attach thread in first row of lapel, ch 1,
skip 1, sc in end of next row, sc in end of each row and each st around (making
2scs in each point where needed). Fasten off.
R2…attach contrasting color in first st of R1, sl st in back
loops of each st around. End with a sl st in the first row below the last sl st
of R1. Fasten off.
Sleeves: (Make 2) - Starting at cuff....Ch 16(making sure you have
12" of unused thread for sewing).

Sew sleeve into armhole, easing stitches at cap of sleeve to fit.
To add shoulder pads…..Using a used or new light weight shoulder pad, cut 2
semi-circles 1 1/4" by 3/4" at the straight side of the pad where it
has the folded edge. Hand stitch around cut section of each mini-shoulder pad
and attach loosely to inside of jacket with the 1 1/4" side along sleeve
edge.
Slacks: -
Starting with ch 44.
R1.....Working in back ridge of chain, sc in 2nd ch from hook

R5.....Working in back loops, sc in first 4 sts, (2sc in each

Repeat rows 22 thru 65 as for first leg. Fasten off, leaving a 12" thread for sewing.
Sew both inseams then crotch. Secure under-fly with a couple
of stitches. Sew snap at waistband. Sew a center crease in pants front by folding on crease line
and taking small stitches very close to fold.
Hat:
With brown or tan( your choice) and size 5 hook:
Rnd 1….form a ring around finger, 6 scs in ring, do not
join, keep working in rounds
Rnd 2…2 scs in each of next 6 sts (12 sts)
Rnd 3…2 scs in each of next 12 sts (24 sts)
Rnd 4…sc in next 24 sts
Rnd 5…(sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 12 times (36 sts)
Rnd 6 - 17…sc in 36 sts
Rnd 18…(Brim) (sc in next 3 sts, 2 scs in next st) around
until brim is desired size. Work 3 rows with no increases to make brim curl upward.
Fasten off. Make a trim piece around hat…..ch 36 sts, join in first ch
to form a ring, sc around 36 sts. Fasten off. You may also use a piece of the ribbon matching the tie.

Trim:
R1…with right side facing you, attach thread in first st of
R9 of first side (where the ch2 started) …(ch 1, sc) in same st, sc around to
the other side working in ends of each row with 2 scs in each point.
R2…with right side facing you, attach brown thread in back
loop of first sc of R1…working in back loops, sl st around. Fasten off. Sew 3 small snaps to center front.
Secure a chain of 10 to each bottom side of vest to tie closed
in back.
With fabric paint….place 5 or 6 small dots to front of vest
to represent buttons.
Shirt Piece:
Start collar:
R1…ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 23 chs (24 sts)
R2…(sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st ) 2 times, sc in next
7 sts, (2 scs in next st, sc in next 3 sts) 2 times, ch 1, turn (28 sts)
R3…(sc in next 4 sts , 2 scs in next st) 2 times, sc in next
8 sts, (2 scs in next st, sc in next 4 sts) 2 times. Fasten off.
Shirt Front: R1…attach thread in
11th st from center back, sc over 10 sts, ch 1, turn. R2 - 11 sc over 10 sts, ch
1, turn. Fasten off.
Collar trim: Attach thread in center back, (ch 3, sc in
next st) across Fasten off. Use a small dress hook to close. No need for an eye,
just hook it into the other side of the collar.
Form a tie with 1/8th inch ribbon and glue to center front of
shirt piece.
