Crochet Patterns - Doll Dress and Hat
Materials: This is a vintage pattern. Crochet cotton thread; 1 ball each White and Shaded Lt.
Blues (or colors of choice). One 8 inch doll. 1 1/2 yds. narrow Blue Ribbon. Steel crochet hook No. 6.

Bodice: With White ch 14 d c in
4th st from hook, 1 d c in
each of the next 10 sts of ch, turn.
2nd Row Ch 3 (counts as 1 d
c) 1 d c in each st (12 sts), turn.
Repeat the 2nd row 13 times (piece should measure 3 3/4 inches).
Without turning start beading for waistline, ch 5 and working across long
side, d c in base of same row, * ch 2, d c in base of next row, repeat from *
across row, ch 5, turn.
1st Round of Skirt 3 d c, ch
2, 3 d c (shell) in next mesh, * ch 2, d
c in next d c, ch 2, shell in next mesh, repeat from * all around, ending
round with ch 2, join in 3rd st of ch.
2nd Round Ch 5, shell in next
shell, * ch 2, skip 3 d c
of same shell, d c in next single d c, ch 2, shell in next shell, repeat from *
all around, ch 2, join in 3rd
st of ch. Repeat last round twice, cut thread.
5th and 6th Rounds
Attach Shaded Blues in same space and work 2 rounds same as last round, cut
thread.
7th Round Attach White, ch 6,
4 d c, ch 2, 4 d c (4 d c shell) in center of next shell, * ch 3, d c in next
single d c, ch 3, 4 d c shell in center of next shell, repeat from * all
around, ch 3, join in 3rd st of ch. Work 2 more rounds in same manner, cut White.
10th
and 11th Rounds Attach Shaded Blues and work 2
rounds in same manner.
12th Round Ch 8, 5 d c shell
in next shell, * ch 5, d c
in next single d c, ch 5, 5 d c shell in next shell, repeat from * all around,
ch 5, join in 3rd st of ch, drop Shaded Blues.
13th Round Attach White and
work same as last round, cut White.
14th Round Pick up Shaded
Blues, s c in same space, * ch
3, s c in next loop, ch 3, s c in 1st d c of shell, ch 3, skip 1 d c, s c in
next d c, ch 3, skip 1 d c, s c in next d c, ch 3, s c in next d c, ch 3,

next loop, ch 3, s c in next d c, repeat from * all around, join, cut thread.
Shoulder Strap: Attach White in
base of 2nd row at top of bodice, ch 10, skip 3 rows, s c in next row working
over the end st of row, cut
thread. Skip 3 rows of front, attach thread in end st of next row, ch 10,
skip 2 rows, s c in base of next row, cut thread.
Collar: Attach White in 1st row
at top of bodice, ch 3, 2 d c in same space, 3 d c over end st of
next row, 10 d c over the ch 10 loop, 3 d c in each of the next 3 rows
working over the end st of
each row, 10 d c over next ch 10 loop, 3 d c in each of the next 2 rows, ch
4, turn.
Next Row D c in next d c, * ch 1, d c in next d c, repeat from *
across row, working last d c in 3rd st of end ch, ch 6; turn.
Next Row Tr c in d c, * ch 2, tr c in next d c, repeat
from * across row, cut thread.
Next Row Attach Shaded Blues in 1st loop, * ch 3, s c in
next loop, repeat from * across row, cut thread.
Place dress on doll and sew opening closed. Lace ribbon through beading and
tie at side. If desired make a crinoline and taffeta underskirt and place
under dress.
Hat: With Shaded Blues, ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 14 d c
in ring, join.
2nd Row Ch 3, d c in same space, 2 d c in each remaining d c,
join.
3rd Row Ch 4, d c in next d c, * ch 1, d c in next d c, repeat from
* all around, join in 3rd st of ch, cut thread.
4th Row Attach White in loop; * ch 3, s c in next loop, repeat from
* all around, cut thread.
Take a 15 inch length of ribbon, sew center across inside of hat and tie in
back.
