hook, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in end of ch, 1 sc in opposite side of the
chain, directly across from the 1sc. (8
sc) Mark this last sc and work patt in ROUNDS, until told otherwise. You
will move this marker with each round, always to the LAST st, so you do
not lose track of the rounds.

3:
sc next 3 sts,2 sc in next sc, sc into ea of the next 7 scs, 2 sc into
next sc, sc in the last 4 sts Move marker to last sc made.. (18 sc)

6-8:

9-13:
Hdc into ea of the 26 sc around, moving marker to the last hdc made
*NOTE*
Each hdc round is approx ¼ inch, so to make smaller or larger booties,
add one row now for each additional ½ inch needed in overall
length. For reduction of size, skip one row for every ½ inch LESS needed.
But keep in mind that adjustments must be made again after R-20. So
Increasing or reducing will be done by HALF INCHES, at the rate of ¼ in
in TWO different places.
14:
Hdc in ea of the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in ea of the
next 21 sts. Move marker to last hdc made. (27 hdc)
15:
Hdc in ea of the next 5 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in ea of the next21
sts. Move marker to last hdc made. (28 hdc)
16:
Hdc in ea of the next 28 sts to the marker, then hdc in the next 3 hdc
PAST the marker, and sl st into the NEXT st. Remove marker, as we are done
marking.
17:
ch 1 and TURN, hdc into the sl st and in ea of the next 21 sts. Do not
work the final 6 sts! (22 hdc)
18:
ch 1, Turn, hdc in ea of the 22 hdc.
19:
ch 1, Turn, decrease (Dcrs)
over the 1st 2 hdc,
hdc into the next 18 sts, Dcrs over the last 2 hdc. (20 hdc)
20:
ch 1, Turn, hdc in ea of the 20 hdc.
*NOTE*
If you have Enlarged or Reduced the size, NOW is the time to do so again.
If you enlarged by ONE round earlier, you will need to enlarge by ONE row
here. If you reduced by ONE round earlier, you will now need to reduce by
ONE row here, as well, in order to keep the overall scale of the pattern
intact.
21:
ch 1, Turn, hdc in the next 6 sts, Dcrs over the next 2 hdc 4 times, hdc
in ea of the last 4 sts. (16 sts)
22:
ch 1, Turn, hdc into ea of the next 4 sts, Dcrs over the next 2 hdc 4
times, hdc into ea of the final 4 sts. (12 sts)
23:
ch 1, turn, hdc into the next 3 sts, Dcrs over the next 2 hdc 3 times, hdc
into ea of the final 3 sts. (9 sts)
24:
Fold the two halves of the heel together so you are working on the INSIDE
and match the sts up, slip
stitching through BOTH thicknesses.
It is an uneven st amount, so sl
through 4 times, ignoring the most bottom st.
25:
ch 1 and sl st 3 times back up to the TOP of the heel.
26:
ch 1 and place a sc to the left of the heel seem, sc another
10 evenly spaced sts along this side. Split SC at the CORNER by
inserting hook into the side of the slipper and again into the first
SKIPPED stitch, YO and draw throughout all three loops on your hook. Sc
arcoss 4 of the skipped stitched. Split SC into the final skipped stitch
and the opposite side of the bootie, as before, then place another 11 sc
along the final top edge of the bootie. Sl st to 1st Sc. ((28 sc)
27-28:
ch I, do not turn! Hdc into
same st and next 27 sts around. Sl st to 1st st. (28 Hdc)
29:
ch 1, Reverse Sc around and finish off.
Bootie
may be decorated with crocheted flowers or
various small appliquéd
animal , flowers, or other decorations
