Add a touch of elegance, and a bit of Irish luck, to your home with this delicate yet simple-to-make crochet edging. Special Note: The sample piece pictured was crocheted using 3 ply Sugar & Cream cotton yarn and a Size H crochet hook.

Materials: 16 oz or 1400 yd of a medium-weight mercerized crochet cotton; Size C crochet hook; Round tablecloth 80" in diameter.
Gauge: 13 rows to 4" over pat worked on size C hook.
To save time, take time to check gauge.
Pattern Instructions:
To make: Using size C hook, ch 30.
Base row: 1 dc in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, skip next 2 ch, 1 dc in next ch) 3 times, ch 5, skip next 12 ch, (1 dc, ch 3) 3 times in last ch, 1 dc in same ch. Turn.
1st row: (RS) ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) all in each of next 3 ch-3 sps- called shamrock-- ch 5, I dc in next ch-5 sp, (ch 2, I dc in next dc) 4 times, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, I dc in next ch. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 5, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, (ch 2, 1 dc in next dc) 4 times, ch 2, l dc in next ch-5 sp, ch7, (l dc, ch3) 3 times in tr in center of 2nd petal, 1 dc in same place. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1, shamrock, ch 5, 1 dc in next ch-7 sp, (ch 2, 1 dc in next dc) 6 times, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, 1 dc in next ch. Turn.
4th row: Ch 5, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, (ch 2, 1 dc in next dc) 6 times, ch 2, l dc in next ch-5 sp, ch7, (l dc, ch3) 3 times in tr in center of 2nd petal, 1 dc in same place. Turn.
5th row: Ch 1, shamrock, ch 5, 1 dc in next ch-7 sp, (ch2, 1 dc in next dc) 8 times, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, 1 dc in next ch. Turn.
6th row: Ch 5, skip first dc, 1 dc in next dc, (ch 2, 1 dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 5, skip next 4sps, (1 dc, ch3) 3 times in next sp, 1 dc in same sp. Turn.
First-6th rows form pat and are rep throughout. Cont in pat until the edging is the required length, ending with a 5th row. Fasten off.
To finish: Press with warm iron and damp cloth. Then overcast the edging in place around the tablecloth. Overcast the end of the edging to the beginning.
