Materials Needed:

7 hook

Approx 60 yards of Burgundy size 10 thread

Approx 120 yards of white size 10 thread

Approx 8-9 in (depending on your gauge and if you block it)

Stitches Used:

Beg V st: ch 6 and dc into same

V st: dc, ch 2, dc in same

Shell: 2 dc, ch 2, dc in same

Large Shell: 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in same

Pattern:

Begin by making the center rose:

Round 1-With Burgundy (or color of choice) chain 2, 8 hdcs in 2nd ch from hk, sl st into 1st hdc to join.

Round 2-Ch 1, sc in same st, and in each of the remaining 7 hdcs around. Sl to 1st sc to join.

Round 3-Ch 1, sc into join st., ch 3, (sc, ch 3 in each of the remaining 7 scs, Sl to 1st sc to join. (8 ch 3 loops)

Round 4-Sl into the ch 3 sp, ch 1. *(sc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, sc) all in same space.* Repeat from * to * in each ch 3 sp around, creating 8 petals. Sl to 1st sc to join.

Round 5-Ch 1 and working behind petals, *sc around the sc directly below on round 3, ch 5* Repeat from * to * , sl to 1st sc to join (8 ch 5 sps)

Round 6-Sl into the ch 5 sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, 5 dc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 5 sp*, repeat from *to * around, sl to 1st sc to join. (8 petals)

Round 7-Ch 1 and working behind petals, *sc around the sc directly below on round 6, Ch 7, repeat * to *, sl to 1st sc to join.(8 ch 7 sps)

Round 8-Sl into the ch 7 sp, ch 1 * (sc, ch 2, 7dc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 7 sp*, Repeat from *to* around, sl to 1st sc to join. (8 petals)

Round 9-Ch 1, working behind petals, sc around the sc directly below on round 8, ch 8, repeat * to *, sl into 1st sc to join. (8 ch 8 sps)

Round 10-Sl into ch 8 sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, 9dc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 8 sp, repeat *to* around, sl to 1st sc to join. FINSIH OFF

Round 11-Attach white with sl between any 2 sc on round 9, between petals. Ch 1, sc in same st. Ch 8 ( as first TR, ch 4), *sc in the 5th dc, ch 4, TR crochet between the next 2 sc between petals, ch 4 . Repeat * to *, skipping the last ch 4, instead ch 1 and place a TR in the 4th ch of the beginning. ch 8

Round 12-Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3) in same sp and in each ch 4 sp around. Sl to 1st sc to join (32 ch 3 spaces)

Round 13-Sl into ch 3 sp, ch 3(as 1st dc), place 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same ch 3 sp, sk next ch 3 sp. *In next ch 3 sp (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc sk next ch 3 sp* Repeat from * to * around, sl in 3rd ch of beg ch 3 and FINISH OFF.

Round 14-Attach Burgundy with a sc in any ch 1 sp, ch 2, V between next 2 shells, ch 2, *sc in ch 1 sp of next shell, V between next 2 shells, ch 2*, repeat from * to * around. Sl to 1st sc to join.(16 Vs)

Round 15- Ch 1, sc in same sc, 9TR in the next ch 3 sp, *sc in next sc, 9TR in the next ch 3 p, repeat * to * around. Slip into 1st sc and FINISH OFF. (16 large shells)

Round 16-Attach white with sl to any sc, ch 6, dc in same sc, creating a beginning V st, ch 3, sc in 5th TR of the next 9 TR group, *ch 3, V st in next sc, ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in 5th TR of next 9 TR group,ch 3* repeat *to * . Sl to 3rd ch of beg ch 6 to join. (16 Vs and 16 sc, 32 ch 3 sps)

Round 17-Sl into ch 3 sp, ch 3(as 1st dc), and place 8 dc in same sp. Sc in next sc, *9dc in next ch 3 sp, sc in next sc* repeat *to* around. Sl into the 3rd ch of the beg ch 3 to join.(16 shells , 16 sc)

Round 18-Sl to the 5th dc of 9 dc shell group, ch 1, sc in same. *ch 3, V st in next sc, ch 3, sc in the 5th dc on next 9dc shell group*, repeat from *to * around. Sl to 1st sc to join. (16 V, 16 sc)

Round 19-Ch I, sc in join, 9 TR in next ch 3 sp, *sc in next sc, 9 TR in next ch 3 sp* repeat around. Join with sl to 1st sc.

Round 20-Sl across to 2nd TR of the 9 TR group, ch 1 and sc in same st, ch 3, (skip next TR, sc, ch 3 in next TR)2 times, sc in next TR, ch 2, *sc 2nd TR of next 9 TR group, ch 3, sk next TR) 3 times, ch 2* Repeat * to * around. Sl to 1st sc to join. (48 ch 3 sps, 16 ch 2 sps)

Round 21-Sl across to 2nd ch 3 group, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, *ch 4, sc in each of the next ch 3, ch 2, and ch 3 lps. Ch 4, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch 3 sp* Repeat from * to * around. Sl to 3rd ch of beg ch 3 to join and FINISH OFF. (16 pointed shell tips)

Round 22-Attach Burgundy with a sc in any ch 2 sp, *ch 6, (sc in 1st sc, ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next sc), ch6, sc in next ch 2 sp*. Repeat * t0* around. Sl to 1st sc to join.

Round 23-Ch 1, sc in join, ch 3, sc in same, 11 TR in next ch 3 sp, (sc ch 3, sc) in next sc at tip of shell point* Repeat from * to * around. (16 large shells and 16 ch 3 sps)

FINISH OFF. Block to 9 inches round.
