Crochet Patterns - Ring of Roses Doily

These directions make a doily about
9 inches in diameter using American Thread Company ‘‘Puritan’’
Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a size 7 steel crochet hook. It takes about 250
yards each of white, shaded pinks and light green for one doily.
Abbreviations:
p (picot) sc (single crochet) dtr (double treble)
tr (treble) sp (space) ch (chain) lp (loop) dc (double crochet)
rnd (round) sl st (slip stitch)
Pattern: With shaded pinks ch 8, join to form a ring,
ch 3, keeping last lp of each st on hook, work 2 dc in ring, thread over and
work off all lps at one time, * ch 4, cluster st in ring (cluster st: keeping
last lp of each st on hook work 3 dc in ring, thread over and work off all lps
at one time), repeat from * 6 times, ch 4, join in first cluster st.
Rnd 2: Sl st into lp, ch 3, keeping last lp of each st on
hook, work 2 dc in same lp, thread over and work off all lps at one time, * ch
5, sl st in 4th st from hook for p, ch 1, cluster st in
same lp, ch 3, cluster st in next lp, repeat from * around, ending to
correspond, join, cut thread.
Rnd 3: Join green in any ch 3 lp, (sc,
ch 3, sc) in same lp, * ch 5, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch 3 lp, repeat from * 6
times, ch 5, join.
Rnd 4: Sl st in lp, ch 3, dc, ch 3, 2
dc in same lp, * ch 3, sc in next lp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next lp,
repeat from * around, ending to correspond, join in third st of ch.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in next
dc, * (2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc) in next lp, sc in each of next 2 dc, sc in next lp, ch
3, sc in next lp, sc in each of next 2 dc, repeat from * around, ending to
correspond, join, cut thread.
Rnd 6: Join white in any ch 3 lp
between points, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same 1p * ch 2, sc between next 2 dc
groups working in lp of previous rows, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 3
lp, repeat from * around, ending to correspond, join in 4th st of ch.
Rnd 7: Sl st to next lp, (sc, ch 3, sc)
in same lp, * ch 3, 3 dtr (to make dtr: 3 times over hook) with ch 2 between
each dtr in next sc, (ch 3, sc) 3 times in next lp, repeat from * around, ending to correspond, join in first
Sc.
Rnd 8: Sl st into lp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc
in same lp, * ch 3, sc in next dtr, 4 dc, ch 3, 4 dc in next dtr, sc in next
dtr, ch 3, sk next lp, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in next lp, repeat from * around,
ending to correspond, join in third st of ch.
Rnd 9: Sl st to next lp, ch 3, keeping last lp
of each st on hook work 2 dc in same lp, thread over and work off all lps at one
time, * ch 7, sc in next lp, ch 7, cluster st in next lp, repeat from * around,
ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 10: Sl st into lp, ch 4, tr in same 1p *
ch 5, 2 tr in next lp, repeat from * around, ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 11: Ch 4, tr in next tr, * ch 6, tr in
each of the next 2 tr, repeat from * around, ending to correspond, join.
Rnd 12: Same as last rnd but ch 7 between tr
groups, cut thread.
Rnd 13: Join green in same sp, sc in same sp, sc in next tr, * ch
7, sc in each of
next 2 tr, repeat from * around, ch 7, join, cut thread.
Rnd 14: Join shaded pinks at end of any lp, **
ch 3, sl st in beginning of next lp, ch 5, keeping last lp of each st on hook,
work 2 tr in 5th st from hook, thread over and work off all lps at one time, * ch 3, keeping last
lp of each st on hook work 3 tr in same sp, thread over and work off all lps at
one time, repeat form * once, sl st at end of same lp, repeat from ** around,
ending to correspond, join, cut thread.
Rnd 15: Join green in any lp between
cluster st groups, ch 1, 2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc in same lp, * ch 3, drop lp from hook,
insert hook in next ch 3 lp, pull dropped lp through, ch 1, sc in same lp, ch 3,
sl st in sc for p, ch 3, sc in next lp, ch 3, sl st in sc for p, ch 3, 2 sc, ch
3, 2 sc in next lp, repeat form * around, ending to correspond, join, cut
thread.
