Easter Craft Projects - Eggshell Easter Baskets
What you need: Old, plastic, rounded bowl or plastic butter container
(you may also use the base of large plastic bottles or bleach containers); Easter egg coloring kit or paints;
Clear Acrylic spray; Craft glue; small sponge paint brush; Sturdy paper plate (no sections).
What to do:
1. The egg shells you would normally use for cooking
should be cleaned, saved and stored until you have enough for this project. You
may bleach them if you like for purification.
2. Color the eggshells according to the Easter egg
coloring kit directions. Once the eggs have reached the desired color, remove
from coloring solution and lay upon paper towels to dry completely. If you like,
you may leave the shells plain or paint them once they have been glued to the
container bowl.
3. Break eggshells into small pieces or crush if
desired, blending all the different colors. Place crushed shells in a flat paper
plate
4. Using sponge paint brush, cover an area of the
container you have chosen with glue. Immediately dip the glued area into the
crushed eggshells. Gently press the shells onto the container until secure and
flat. Allow to dry. Cover the entire container in this fashion.
5. Spray completed project with clear acrylic spray.
6. If desired, fill with basket grass and eggs or use
as an Easter candy dish.
