Crochet Patterns - Scallop Edging
Materials:
To make handkerchief edging
you will need a ball of white tatting cotton and a number 11 steel crochet hook.
sc (single crochet) lp (loop) dtr (double treble) sep (separated) rnd (round) sk (skip).
Pattern:
Rnd 1: Join thread in edge of
hankie, * ch 5, leave about 1/8-inch on edge, join in edge of
handkerchief. Repeat from * around, sl st at base of first ch 5. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Join thread in center
of first ch, * (ch 5, sc in center of next ch) twice, ch 5, make 5 clusters sep
by ch 5 over next ch, (to make one cluster: holding last lp of each dtr on hook
make 3 dtr over ch, thread over and pull through all lps on hook), ch 5, sc over
next ch. Repeat from * around, sl st at base of first ch and into the center of
first ch.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, sc in center of
next lp * sk 1 lp, (ch 5, sc in center
of next lp) 3 times, turn, make 6 sc over ch just made, turn, work 3 sc, ch 5, 3
sc in 6 sc just made, ch 5, sc in next lp, ch 5, sk 1 lp, sc in next lp, ch 2,
sc in next lp. Repeat from * around, sl st at base of first ch 2. Fasten off.
