Crochet Patterns - Cherry Spray Edging

Materials- Tatting Cotton, 2 balls Red (A), 1 ball Green (B); Square handkerchief with rolled or hemstitched edge; Steel crochet hook size 13.

Cherry: With A ch 7, join (with sl st) to form ring, ch 3, work 23 dc in ring, join in top ch of ch-3, fasten off. Make 2 more Cherries. Tack 3 Cherries together at points indicated by arrows 1, 2, 3 on detail diagram, below.

Stem and Leaves: With B ch 23 for stem, drop loop from hook, from right side insert hook in 3rd tacked st between Cherries (arrow 3) and draw dropped loop thru, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each of next 12 chs, to make first Leaf: ch 11, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 5 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in each remaining ch on Stem, fasten off.

To make 2nd Leaf: Attach B to 8th sl st on Stem (arrow 4), ch 9, drop loop from hook, skip next 7 sl sts on Stem, from right side insert hook in next sl st and draw dropped loop thru (arrow 5), sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, 2 dc in each of next 3 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch sl st in joining, fasten off. Make desired number of Cherry Sprays. Sew around handkerchief as shown.
