| Halloween Craft Projects - Bird Costume
For body of the costume, select a cardboard
carton that will cover you from neck to hips. Remove flaps and invert carton.
Cut an 8" circle in top of body for head. Cut large armholes in the sides,
1" from the top of the box.
To decorate, use spray paint or paint with a
water base. If tempera is used, spray with several final coats of clear plastic
or shellac.
Make the head covering from an ice cream
container. It can rest on top of the body carton. Cut out eyes and any
ventilation holes needed. Paint on additional features. Cover arms with a
sweater or sweatshirt. Cover legs with a pair of matching tights or slacks.
Bird:
Paint carton. Cut out some paper feathers from
construction paper; glue about six on head. Tape or sew other feathers to
fabric, covering the arms and the legs from hip to thigh. Cut each foot from a
foam meat tray; cut out a section to fit over shoe and tie at back. Glue a paper
beak to head.
