Halloween Craft Projects - Clown Costume

 

For body of the costume, select a cardboard carton that will cover you from neck to hips. Remove flaps and invert carton. Cut an 8" circle in top of body for head. Cut large armholes in the sides, 1" from the top of the box.

To decorate, use spray paint or paint with a water base. If tempera is used, spray with several final coats of clear plastic or shellac.

Make the head covering from an ice cream container. It can rest on top of the body carton. Cut out eyes and any ventilation holes needed. Paint on additional features. Cover arms with a sweater or sweatshirt. Cover legs with a pair of matching tights or slacks.

Clown

Paint cardboard box. Accordion pleat paper wristlets made of construction paper, neck ruff and hat band. String one edge of pleating on elastic thread; tie ends of thread to make the size circle needed.

Roll paper into cone for the hat. Glue the hat and hat band to head carton. Add a pompom to top of cone hat.

Tie ribbon around shoes to look like slippers.
