1. Have the children paint pumpkin seeds ( or they can be prepainted by you).
2. Place them in a bag.
3. Have the children scatter them all
around a specific area. Then
water them.
4. Once the children are sleeping or off to school, pick up all the seeds
and replace them with small real pumpkins that they can paint or carve.
I had read the story of "Jack & The Bean Stalk" thus setting
a magical theme. I also improvised by changing some of the items (such as the
pumpkin seeds) instead of the beans, etc.. We also watched the Charlie Brown
classic "The Great Pumpkin".
