Halloween Craft Projects - Scarecrow Costume

What you need: Raffia (earth tone); Old pants and long sleeved shirt or jacket; Brown paper bag; Glue, pins, tape and household string; Black Marker.

What to do:

1. Crumple a large, brown, paper bag. Cut out facial features where desired. Color in eyebrows above eyes with black marker. This will be the scarecrows head.

2. Take long strips of raffia and attach them to the top of the bag with glue for hair. Allow the raffia strands to dangle along both sides of the head. 

2. Cut holes along the base of the bag where the neck will be. Weave string through the holes with ends in back. Once the bag is on your head tighten the strings loosely and secure in a bow at nape of neck, so it may be easily removed later. Omit the string for small children, instead gather sides of bag and tape.

3. Dress up in the pants and long sleeved shirt or jacket.

4. Pin small amounts of raffia around neck and cuffs of sleeves and pants. Allow some of the raffia strips to dangle out so that it will extend over your hands and feet.

6. Place a floppy brimmed hat on top of head and out the door you go.
