This two color knit afghan of yarn (3 1/2 ounce skeins) has an open look but will keep you warm on a cold winter night. You will need 10 skeins color A, 8 skeins color B and number 11 standard knitting needles. Three panels are worked with color A and 2 of color B.
Abbreviations:
k (knit) St (stitch) yo (yarn over) tog (together)
Gauge: 5 sts equal 2 inches
Cast on 24 sts. K 6 rows for border.
Pattern: Rows 1 through 6: K 4, *yo, k 2 tog, k 2, repeat from *, end k 6.
Rows 7 through 12: K.
Repeat last 12 rows for pattern until 76 inches from beginning, ending with Row 12. Bind off. Sew panels tog with A panels on each side and center, B panels between.
Fringe: Knot 2 strands, 14 inches long before folding, across upper and lower edges, matching panels. Steam lightly.
