Free Knitting Patterns - Easy Baby Booties

Material needed:
2 ounces of baby yarn;
1 pair of short knitting needles, size 2;
1 yard of silk ribbon or cord;
1 tapestry needle;
1 small safety pin.
Pattern stitch - garter rows
Make 2 bootees - right and left are interchangeable
The bootee is folded in half at the bottom of the foot
Instructions:
1. Cast on 58 stitches.
2. Plain-knit until you have 15 garter rows or 2 1/4 inches.
3. Bind off 12 stitches. Plain-knit the 45 stitches remaining on the left-hand
needle.
4. Bind off 12 stitches. Plain-knit the 33 stitches remaining on the left-hand
needle.
5. Knit 9 garter rows, or until knitted piece measures 3 1/2 inches from
casting-on edge.
6. A. Plain-knit together 2 stitches. Repeat to end of row (you should have 18
stitches left on needle).
B. Plain-knit 1 row.
C. Plain-knit together 2 stitches. Repeat to end of row (you should
have 10 stitches left on the needle.
D. Plain-knit 1 row.
7. Cut the yarn leaving 1 arm's length for sewing. Using a tapestry needle, draw
the yarn through the 10 stitches left on the needle.
Remove the knitting needle.
Draw the yarn through again in the same direction and pull the stitches together
tightly.
Finishing Instructions:
Fold the knitting in half and sew together.
Attach the ribbon or cord to a safety pin, weave in and out of the knitting near
the top.
Fold down top approx. 1 inch and anchor securely to form a "cuff".
