Knitting Pattern - Easy Pullover

Directions are for size 10 with changes in parentheses for sizes 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. Model was
made from Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted, 4-ounce skeins. You will need 12
(12, 14, 14, 16, 16) ounces main color (MC); 2 ounces contrast color (CC); one
pair size 8 knitting needles or size needed to work to gauge.
Abbreviations: st (stitch) sl (slip)
p (purl) psso (pass slipped stitch over) k (knit) inc (increase) tog (together)
dec (decrease) MC (main color) CC (contrasting color)
Measurements: Width of back at underarm—18 (18 3/4, 19
3/4,
20 1/2, 21 1/2, 22 1/4) inches. Width of sleeve at armhole—12 3/4 (13 1/4, 13
3/4, 14 1/4,
141/2, 15) inches.
Gauge: 9 sts equal 2 inches and 6 rows equal 1 inch.
Back: With MC, cast on 77 (81, 85, 89, 93, 97) sts.
Work in stockinette (k 1 row, p 1 row) for 4 1/2 inches, ending
on wrong side.
Cast on 2 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Work even in
stockinette on 81 (85, 89, 93, 97, 101) sts until 14 inches from beginning or
1/2 inch less than desired length to underarm, ending on wrong side.
Raglan Armholes: Bind off 1 st at beginning of next 2 rows.
Dec Row: K 2, sl 1, k 1, psso, k to last 4 sts, k 2 tog, k 2,
repeat dec row EVERY OTHER row until 31 (33, 35, 37, 39, 41) sts remain. Bind off loosely.
Front: Work same as back.
Sleeves: With MC, cast on 44 (46, 48, 50, 50, 50) sts. Work in
stockinette, inc 1 st each side on 9th row, inc 1 st each side every 10th (10th,
10th, 10th, 10th, 8th) row 6 (6, 6, 6, 7, 8) times. Work even on 58 (60, 62, 64,
66, 68) sts until 15 inches from beginning or 1/2 inch less than desired length
to underarm, ending on wrong side.
Raglan Sleeve Cap: Bind off 1 st at beginning of next 2 rows.
Dec as on back armhole on next row, then EVERY OTHER row until 8 sts remain.
Bind off loosely.
Sew sleeves to front and back. Starting at the 2 cast on sts
at each side and leaving 4 1/2 inches free for slits, sew underarm and sleeve
seams.
Binding: With CC cast on 7 sts.
Row 1—(Right Side): K 1, k 2 tog (a dec), k to last st, k in
front and back of last st (makes 1 st inc).
Row 2: P 7 sts.
Repeat last 2 rows until piece fits comfortably around neck
edge. Bind off.
Using large-eyed needle and CC, weave cast-on end to bound-off
end. Pin decreased-edge of binding to encircle neck, right sides of binding and
sweater facing. Sew in place. Turn binding to inside of neck and sew in place.
Work binding for sleeve edges and lower edge (including splits) in same manner.
