Free Crochet Pattern - Christmas Stocking
Materials: Size H hook, Worsted weight yarn: red (about 4 oz), white
(about 2 oz.) and a small amount of green.
Size: About 7" high.
Directions: Note: Work with double strand of yarn throughout.
Boot Top: With double strand of white, ch 34. Sl st in first ch to form ring, being
careful not to twist ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around. Sl st in first sc.
Rnd 2-12: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. S1 st in first sc. On last sc of last rnd, finish sc
with red. Cut white. With double strand of red, sl st in first sc.
Rnds 13-24: With red, repeat Rnd 2.
Instep:
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in 23 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in 12 sts; (Mark last sc for place to attach yarn later.) Ch 1, turn.
Rows 3-11: Sc in 12 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 12-15: Pull up a lp in each of first 2 sts, yo and through 3 lps on hook (1 dec), sc
across to last 2 sts, dec 1 st. Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 15, end off.
Foot: Join double strand of red in marked sc, sc in each st down side of instep, around
toe, up other side of instep and around to back of heel (54 sc). Join. Work 6 rnds of sc.
Ch 1, join each rnd. End off.
Sole: With double strand of red, ch 13.
Rnd 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 10 ch, 3 sc in last ch; working back on
opposite side of starting ch, sc in 10 ch, sc in same ch as first 2 sc of rnd. S1 st in
first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc in 10 sc, 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in 10
sc, 2 sc in last sc, join.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in each of first 3 sc, sc in 12 sc, 2 sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in 12
sc, 2 sc in last sc, join.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times, sc in 12 sc, (2
sc in next sc, sc in next sc) 4 times, sc in 12 sc, 2 sc in last sc, join.
Rnds 5 and 6: Ch 1, sc around, inc 3 sc around each end each rnd. Do not end off.
Place sole with edges matching bottom of boot. Working with sole facing you, insert hook
through both sole and boot and work sc through both thicknesses all around, easing as
necessary. End off.
Finishing: Trace sole on cardboard, cut out and insert in boot. Turn cuff down. With
double strand of green, make 14" chain. Thread tie under st at front of boot and tie
into bow.
