Large Medallion: R of 2 ds, 12 long p sep by 3 ds, 1 ds, cl r. Fasten off.
Rnd 1: With ball and shuttle, * r of 6 ds, join in long p, 6 ds, cl r, rw. Ch 6 ds, do not rw. R of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl r, do not rw. Ch 6 ds, rw. Repeat from * around, join last ch at base of first r. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: * R of 7 ds, p, 1 ds, cl r. R of 1 ds, join in p of last r, 3 ds, join in p of r in previous rnd, 3 ds, p, 1 ds, cl r. R of 1 ds, join in p of last r, 7 ds, cl r, rw. Ch 11 ds, p, 11 ds, rw. Repeat from around. Fasten off.
Make 32 of these large medallions joining each as it is made to two consecutive p on previous medallion. The medallions are set together 4 across and 8 lengthwise. As successive large medallions are joined leave 1 free p between joinings to be used for the small medallion.
Small Medallion: R of 1 ds, 16 long p sep by 2 ds, 1 ds, cl r. Fasten off.
Rnd 1: With ball and shuttle threads, join in long p. Ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, sk 1 long p, join in next long p, ch 6 ds, join in p of free ch on one medallion, ch 6 ds, sk 1 long p, join in next long p, ch 6 ds, p, 6 ds, sk 1 long p, join in next long p, ch 6 ds, join in p of free ch on next medallion, ch 6 ds. Repeat from * until p of 4 free chs on large medallions are joined to small medallion, join last ch at base of first ch. Fasten off.
