Tatting Patterns - Medallion and Edging

This unusual design is made entirely of chain loops. You will
need a ball of number 30 crochet cotton and a tatting shuttle.
Abbreviations: ch (chain) ds (double stitch) p (picot) sep (separated)
rw (reverse work) lp (loop).
Medallion: Tie ball and shuttle threads together, make a p, ch 5 ds, 4 p sep
by 5 ds, 5 ds, rw. Make a p, ch 6 ds, 2 p sep by 6 ds, 5 ds, rw, join in last p
of first ch. * Ch 5 ds, 4 p sep by 5 ds, 5 ds, rw, join in last p of last ch. Ch
6 ds, 2 p sep by 6 ds, 5 ds, join in last p of last ch, rw. Repeat from * until
there are 8 outside lps, be sure to join last p of last lp to first p made, then
end with ch 6 ds, join in first free p of adjacent ch, 6 ds, p, 6 ds, join in
first p made after first rw, 6 ds, join at base of first ch. Tie and cut
threads.
Matching Edge:
Tie
