Valentine Craft Projects - Heart Letter Holder
Material: 1 ball red, 1 ball yellow (or white), Metallic
Knit Cro-Sheen; 4 pearl beads; 1- heart shaped, wire, letter holder; Size 7 crochet hook.
Gauge: 8 sc = 1"; 10 rows = 1"
Pattern:
Front—Starting at lower edge with red, ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 3 sc in first sc (2 sc mc), sc in each
of next 2 sc, 3 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn..
Rows 3, 4, 5: Inc 2 sc, sc in each sc across,
inc 2 sc in last Sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 6: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 7: Inc 1 sc, sc in each sc across, inc 1
sc in last sc, ch 1, turn.
Repeat Rows 6 and 7 alternately until there
are 46 sc on row.
Work without increasing until piece measures 4
inches in all.
Next row: Dec 1 sc (to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc
as 1 sc), sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, dec 1 sc, ch 1, turn.
Following row: Sc in each sc across, ch 1,
turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows once more. With pin,
mark off the center 2 sc on row.
Next row: Dec 1 sc, work across to within
center 2 sc, ch 1, turn.
Following row: Dec 1 sc, sc in each sc across,
ch 1, turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows alternately until 10
sc remain. Fasten off. Join thread and complete other side to correspond.
Back—Work exactly as for front until piece
measures 1¾ inches in all, ending with an inc row.
Next row: Sc in first 12 sc, ch 1, turn. Sc
in each sc across. Fasten off.
Sk next 2 sc on last complete row. Join thread
in next sc, ch 1, sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Next row: Sc in each sc across this section
only. Fasten off.
Following row: Join thread to side edge, inc 1
dc, sc in each of the 12 sc, ch 2, sk the 2 sc skipped previously, sc in each
sc across, inc 1 sc in last sc. This completes a hole for letter opener.
Complete as for front, making the second hole for letter opener 10 sts in from
opposite side edge when piece measures 3¾ inches in all.
Penholder — With red, make
a chain 4 inches long.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each
ch across, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Sew
strip in a spiral to back of holder so that pen will be parallel to letter
opener. Sew back to back of holder.
Flower (Make 4) — Starting at center with
yellow or white, ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join.
Rnd 2: Picking up front lp only, * sc in next sc, ch 6, repeat
from * around, join and fasten off.
Rnd 3: Picking up back lp only, join thread in first sc of
first rnd, * ch 4, sc in next
sc, repeat from * around,
join.
Rnd 4: * In next ch 4 lp make sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc
and sc, repeat from * around.
Join and fasten off. Sew flowers to front, having a pearl at each center. Sew
front to holder.
