Victorian Craft Projects - Victorian Address Book

Materials: Address book; 1/3 yd. floral fabric; 1 1/4 yds. of 1 1/4" eggshell
gathered lace; 1/2 yd. each color of 1/4" satin ribbon in two colors to
blend with fabric; 1 yd. of 1/4" ribbon in a third coordinating color; Poster board; 1/3 yd. antique white cotton moiré fabric; Quilt batting; Hot glue
sticks and glue gun.
Instruction:
1. Measure inside cover of book and cut 2 pieces of poster board to this size.
Cut 2 pieces of moiré fabric 1/2" larger all around than poster board.
Cover poster board with moiré fabric, attaching fabric margins with hot glue on
wrong side of poster board.
2. Open book and lay it face down. Measure outside cover and add 3/4" to
width. Cut batting this size. Add 1" to overall measurement and cut floral
fabric this size. (Photo sample measures 7 3/4" x 10 12". Batting was
cut 7 3/4" x 11 1/4". Fabric was cut 8 3/4" x 12 1/4".)
3. Lay fabric face down. Center batting, then book on top of this, stretching
batting slightly around edges. Hot-glue fabric margins to inside cover. Clip
fabric edge 1" deep on each side of book binding, forming a strip to tuck
inside binding at top and bottom.
4. Glue ends of 3 colors of 14" ribbon lengths inside binding at bottom
(these are bookmarks).
5. Glue lace around edges of book, gathering at corners. Attach a 10"
length of ribbon to center front of book and another to center back with end of
ribbons on inside covers (these are the ties). Glue moiré covered poster board
over raw edges on inside cover.
6. Tie knots in ends of all ribbons.
