Materials: 1
linen doily with cutwork and lace edging approximately 20" by 8".
Scrap of Brocade fabric for lining. White thread. 1 yd cotton cording 3/16"
in diameter. 1 button.
Directions: Cut
doily in 2 pieces with 1 piece about 2 1/2" longer than the other for Back.
Hem all unfinished edges. Gently remove lace from side edges of Front. Stitch
lace to edge of Back without lace. Cut 2 lining pieces same as fabric area of
Front and Back, plus 1/2" seam allowance all around. Wrong sides
together.Stitch Front to Back along side and bottom edges of fabric. Baste
4" loop of cotton cording to wrong side, centered on flap section of
Back. For Strap, baste ends of remaining cord to top of Shoulder Bag at base of
flap section. Taking up a 1/2" seam allowance with right sides together,
sew lining pieces together along side and bottom edges. Press seam allowance on
flap section to wrong side; stitch lining to Shoulder Bag along top edge
of Front and edges of flap. Sew button to position on Front beneath cording
loop.
