Christmas Craft Project - Snowman Cookie Jar
Materials:
Glass
jar suitable for cookies; paper for
pattern; pencil; masking tape; tissue
paper in assorted colors; Elmer’s Glue; paintbrush; Crystal Clear
Krylon Spray.
Directions:
1. Draw a snowman or any design of your choice
on paper The pattern should be the actual size desired on the cookie jar.
2. Tape the pattern temporarily to the inside of the jar, with the design
facing out. Tear or cut the tissue paper into fingernail-sized pieces.
3. In a cup,
put three tablespoons of glue and one tablespoon of water. Mix thoroughly.
With a brush, paint some of the solution on a small area on the outside of the
glass jar, following the pattern design.
4. While the glue-painted area is still
moist, place a few pieces of tissue on
the moist area. Brush a little of the
glue mixture over the tissue pieces. Repeat in another area, slightly
overlapping the first area. When the
design area is completely covered with
tissue pieces, add details cut from
tissue.
5. Give the completed design a thin
brushed-on layer of the glue mixture.
Allow to dry completely. When dry, give
the entire outside of the jar a thin
layer of Crystal Clear Krylon Spray. Let
dry; repeat. Remove the taped pattern
from inside the jar.
Note: (You may also use ready made holiday
stencils for this project and simply paint your design onto the jar).
