Christmas Placemat
Free Christmas Crochet Patterns - Christmas Placemat
Materials: Knitting worsted yarn, white, approximately 1 skein; small amount of green; 1/2 skein of red, yellow (for French knots on flower appliqué); crochet hook size G.
Ch 60, turn and make 1 sc in each st across entire chain. Ch 1, turn and sc in each sc across. Ch 3, turn, skip 1st st and dc in next st, go back and make a dc in the skipped st, (this makes a cross-stitch), repeat across row. (You should have 29 cross-stitches across with 1 dc at beginning and end of each row).
Next two rows are sc in each st across with a ch 1, turn at beginning of each row.
Next row is the cross-stitch row which begins with a chain 3 at beginning and ending with a dc in last st.
Pattern: Two rows of sc and 1 row of cross-st, repeat 3 times more. (1st 12 rows are done in white yarn).
Next Row: Done in green yarn (sc for two rows).
Next Row: Done in white yarn (cross-stitch row).
Next Rows: Done in red yarn-2 rows of sc.
Next Row: Cross-stitch row done in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc done in green yarn.
Next Row: Cross-st row done in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc in red yarn.
Next Row: Cross-st in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc in white yarn.
Next Row: Cross-st row in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc in white yarn.
Next Row: Cross-st in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc in white yarn.
Next Row: Cross-st in white yarn.
Next 2 rows: Sc in white yarn.
Fasten off.
Edging: With red yarn join to corner st. Ch 3 and make 2 dc in same st, skip the 2 sc rows on side of place mat and make a sc in next st, ch 3 and make 2 dc in same st, (this makes a side shell st) around complete place mat, join to1st st and fasten off.
