Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY STAR RAYON CROCHET, Article 700; 1 ball White and STAR RAYON, Article 300 2 skeins each Turkey Red and Light Emerald; Steel crochet hook No. 7.
With White ch 4, 2 dc in 4th st from hook, turn.
2nd Row: Ch 1, working in sc, increase 1 sc at the beginning and end of row, turn.
3rd Row: Ch 3, working in dc, increase dc at the beginning and end of row, turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows 15 times.
34th Row: Same as 2nd row.
35th Row: Ch 3, dc in same space, 1 dc in each of the next 17 sc, 1 sdc in each of the next 2 sc (sdc: thread over hook, insert in st, pull loop through, thread over and work off all loops at one time), 1 sc in each of the next 29 sc, 1 sdc in each of the next 2 sc, 1 dc in each of the next 17 sc, 2 dc in last sc, turn.
36th Row: Same as 2nd row.
37th Row:Work in same manner as 35th row but having 33 sc between the sdc.
38th Row: Same as 2nd row.
39th Row: Same as 35th row but having 37 sc between the sdc, cut thread leaving a length for sewing. Sew side edges.
TRIM-Attach Green STAR RAYON at joining at back, * * work a double knot st (double knot st: * draw up about 1/4 inch loop on hook, thread over and pull through ch, sc in single loop of st, repeat from * once), skip 1 st, sc in next st, repeat from * * all around, cut thread.
Next Round-With inner side toward you, attach Red in 1st free st after joining, * work a double knot st, skip the Green sc, sc in next free st, repeat from * all around, cut thread. With Red, embroider 3 French knots in groups at intervals. With Green, embroider 3 lazy daisy sts between French knots as illustrated.
